Once hiding outside, these two kittens now claim every lap indoors, especially curious when they notice another cat.

Last month, a Good Samaritan found two little kittens huddled in the bushes near the rescue center of Homeward Bound Cat.
"We don't know what happened or why, but someone saw them and brought them inside. It's unlikely they got there on their own," Homeward Bound Cat shared.
Despite the ordeal, the kittens quickly turned into purr machines. "Both were pretty skinny and small, but they were sweet and taking on life with a bang."

The gray kitten, Toffee Twix, had a kitty cold and an eye infection, and her calico sister, Caramel Swirl, never left her side. At around 6-7 weeks old, they were severely underweight, but with good food and warm beds, they could finally sleep soundly with full bellies.
After a few days in foster care, Toffee's eye cleared up, and she began to explore her new digs and climb onto her foster mom, Ellen Richter, for attention.

Caramel, the bigger of the two, made herself right at home. She adored her sister's company, but as soon as Ellen entered the room, she sprinted over for affection. "All they want to do is cuddle and snuggle. They are so sweet and loving," Ellen shared.
Toffee remained tiny for the first week, nibbling on food and gaining only 1-2 ounces.

To help boost their appetites, Ellen offered a variety of foods with different textures and flavors until she figured out their favorites. "It's been a struggle finding the right food. (After weeks of searching), we finally found ones they like."
Caramel encouraged Toffee to play and showered her with snuggles as if she could sense Toffee needed extra TLC.

Ellen introduced them to various new toys, but it was the feather wand that truly captivated Caramel. She leaped at it, seized it in her mouth, and gave a low, playful growl as Ellen tugged on the other end.
At eight weeks old, they moved into a foster room with ample space to zoom around, cat furniture to scale, and a tunnel perfect for dashing in and out.

Caramel was overjoyed with her newfound freedom, tearing through the place like a tiny tornado.
The commotion from the kittens soon caught the attention of Matisse, the friendly and happy-go-lucky cat. He strolled in and quickly made himself comfortable around the tiny newcomers.

He towers over them but is still a kitten at heart, racing through the tunnel and coaxing the kittens to play.
He is a gentle giant, letting the kittens wrestle his tail and pounce on him from behind. Caramel is especially drawn to Matisse, following him around like a shadow. She is thrilled to have a big buddy to show her the ropes and is fascinated by his playful spirit.

Toffee prefers sitting on her foster mom's lap, quietly observing the two as they chase each other. Matisse sometimes pauses mid-play to give Toffee gentle nose kisses.
When Caramel hit the two-pound milestone, Toffee was still playing catch-up. With the right food, she was finally making steady gains, growing stronger with each passing day.

Last week, Ellen celebrated when Toffee finally tipped the scale at two pounds, ready for her next exciting chapter.
"These kittens are very quiet and calm. They're energetic but in a mellow way. Most of the time, they want to be in my lap, held and cuddled, or climb on my shoulders. Caramel does have more energy than Toffee."

After a rough beginning, the kittens are thriving as a bonded pair. All they've ever wanted is a warm lap to curl up in and a home filled with endless cuddles and love.
