They took in a kitten who looked defeated at the shelter, giving him hope and many new adventures.

When Emilie Rackovan, the founder of Thrifted Kittens Animal Rescue, saw an intake photo of a kitten from the local animal control, her heart broke, and she felt compelled to help.

"Covered in oil, he was completely and utterly defeated. The amazing staff at MADACC worked hard to make him comfortable, but he was struggling in the shelter environment," Emilie shared.

She immediately reached out to the shelter and offered to take him in.

Haley, a volunteer with the rescue, welcomed the kitten into her home and began caring for him. He was covered in an oily substance that required multiple baths to clean off, and he had patches of missing fur on his body.

Thrilled to finally be in a home, the kitten purred nonstop as Haley lovingly tended to him.

"At just 2.5 pounds, the vets estimated him around six to nine months old. We named him Stuart Little."

After arriving in foster care, Stuart Little was eager to explore and embark on new adventures. Though he was just the size of a two to three-month-old kitten, he refused to let anything hold him back.

After getting all cleaned up, he devoured his food, filling his tummy to the brim. In a comfy space free from the noise and stress of the shelter, Stuart relaxed, and the sadness on his face faded away.

With his noticeably improved appetite, he started to fill out.

Since Stuart Little is much smaller than he should be, Emilie and her team are determined to understand why and help him grow strong and healthy. "After a full workup at the vet, we learned that Stuart most likely has a heart condition causing his small stature and wonky appearance."

He adores cozy blankets and will never run out of soft spots to snuggle into.

Kayla, another volunteer, joined forces to care for Stuart, ensuring his foster journey was smooth. Upgraded to a spacious room, the kitten was excited to discover new toys and fresh blankets, and his endearing personality began to shine through.

With extra room to run around, his adventurous side came alive as he joyfully explored every corner.

He's transformed from a forlorn kitten curled up in a shelter kennel to confidently venturing around as if he owns the place. "Stuart Little has blossomed in foster care and traded in his greasy coat for a fluffier, cleaner look."

Just like his namesake, he's incredibly small and loves to go on "adventures."

With newfound energy, he goes after his toys, even standing on his hind legs to reach them, savoring every moment with his foster carers. Stuart is still very small but now has a devoted team of caring humans to make sure his future is bright.

"We're so grateful to MADACC for giving this sweet boy a chance and to our animal foster parents for saying yes to him."
